The Central Arkansas Veterans HealthCare System (CAVHS) includes a comprehensive acute medical-surgical facility on the UAMS campus as well as a rehabilitation, psychiatry and sub-acute medicine facility in nearby North Little Rock. CAVHS hosts busy General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery services , as well as all surgical sub-specialty services.

The Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) is the state's Center of Excellence in children's health care. ACH is the home of the only comprehensive burn center (adult and pediatric) in Arkansas, as well as active programs in pediatric surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery.
