Surgical Research and Patient-Reported Outcomes Center
UAMS’ Surgical Research and Patient-Reported Outcomes Center (SRPRO) provides research didactic materials, training, and opportunities in surgical research. The SRPRO Center includes general surgery and surgical subspecialty investigators pursuing both clinical and basic science research. Although primarily focused on surgical outcomes research, the center involves multidisciplinary collaboration throughout The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Boozman School of Public Health.
Investigators and Personnel
- Brian Badgwell, MD, MS, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Badgwell completed his surgical residency at The Ohio State University, including a one-year surgical oncology research fellowship. He then completed a three-year surgical oncology fellowship at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. During his fellowship he obtained a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
- Caesar Guevara, CRS, is a Research Administrator and Program Manager in Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. He was awarded the Japanese and Belgian government scholarships in clinical trial development and management and has worked in vaccine development and manufacturing, project management, Six Sigma analysis, data management and Biomedical Research and Development. As the first project team leader of the UAMS Research Support Center, he assisted principal investigators in development of their research and clinical protocols for IRB approval. He has experience in projects related to quality of life and symptom management, geriatric assessment, clinical trial development and implementation.
